The Alameda County Community Food Bank collects and distributes nutritious, high-quality food to thousands of people in need each month through its network of 300 community based organizations. In addition to food distribution, the Food Bank's services include:
- Food Helpline: (1-800-870-3663 (FOOD) in Alameda County) connects Alameda County residents with emergency food referrals.
- Community Outreach provides outreach to Alameda County residents about government and charitable food programs.
- USDA Government Commodities, food distribution to low-income Alameda County residents through the state Emergency Food Assistance Program. Call the Food Helpline at 1-800-870-3663 (FOOD) for information or send an email.
- Education and Advocacy raises awareness about the extent and causes of hunger and poverty while encouraging support for solutions. more...
- Nutrition Education provides workshops and technical assistance to Food Bank agency partners.
- Free Summer Lunch Program: This summer, over 140 school and community sites throughout Alameda County are providing a free summer lunch to children and teenagers 18 years and younger, regardless of their family income. No registration or paperwork is required – children who show up will be served a nutritious and delicious lunch. To find a nearby site, click here or call the Food Bank’s toll-free Food Helpline, 800-870-FOOD (3663), enter a zip code and you will be directed to a summer lunch site in your area.
