Jan, Chard, and Zane
“Volunteering as a family is fun, we get to do things together we don’t necessarily do at home,” says Chard Nelson.
Chard, his wife, Jan Berman, and their child, Zane, volunteer weekly in our warehouse and donate regularly.
“The food bank can make such good use of the money,” Jan says. “They are able to buy so much with what we contribute and, working with the volunteer program gets it out very inexpensively to people who need it.”
Zane started volunteering with their middle school class, Jan began as part of a corporate group experience and Chard joined the volunteer ranks once he retired. All three are lead volunteers assisting staff and other volunteers keep the warehouse floor running smoothly.
The family enjoys giving back, Jan says. “There’s a job for everyone at every level of ability.”
